FEATURED PROGRAMS: TEAM TAKEOVER NIKE EYBL
PROGRAM NAME: Team Takeover Nike EYBL
PROGRAM DIRECTOR: Ron James, Tank Collins
LOCATION: Maryland – (DMV)
We have grown in a very short period of time and have helped to secure over 6 Million dollars in scholarship for the graduates of our program.
The Philly Face/Off brought several high quality teams and well-known programs from different parts of the country, to the Philadelphia Area, all looking for serious competition and an electric basketball environment! Team Takeover has been one of the premier Programs on the East Coast, for some years now. The DMV based Program was back for a fourth consecutive year at The Philly Face/Off in 2016, with their entire girls Program, this time around.
We had the opportunity to catch up with Ron James, Program Director for Team Takeover and get an inside look at his impressive Nike EYBL Program, along with some insight on his experience at the Philly Face/Off.
Program Founded
August 2012
Coach James, how did your Basketball Program get started?
“Our nationally recognized elite Nike boys program, lead by Keith Stevens, President/CEO, wanted to establish an elite Nike girls program in Maryland and the greater DMV community. Team Takeover is a nationally recognized premier program and continues to expand and grow.”
How have you been able to sustain your Team Takeover Brand these last 5 years?
“By providing high quality development, coaching, and support to our players and parents. We provide a platform and the proper guidance that allows our student athletes to continue playing at the next level. We believe in playing the highest level of competition to help prepare our student athletes for the next level. We are able to maintain due to the support of our president/CEO, our volunteer directors, coaches, and the loyal and dedicated players and parents.”
What has been your Program’s biggest accomplishment so far?
“We have grown in a very short period of time and have helped to secure over 6million dollars in scholarship for the graduates of our program. Additionally, we have had 2 McDonald All Americans and a Jordan Brand All American in our first 4 years of existence.”
What does the future hold for the Team Takeover Family?
“You can expect continued excellence and highly competitive teams, that are filled with recruitable athletes!”
What brought you to participate in The Philly Face/Off?
“We have a great relationship with Philly Face/Off Director, Ryan Garner, that goes back 12 years. Also, we love the high level of competition available at the Philly Faceoff. You rarely find that kind of field and competition at a non-live tournament.”
How would you best describe your experience at The Face/Off in the past?
“It is always a great experience for all our teams. Last year, we brought every team from our Program, with almost every team winning their pools. We also had multiple teams finish in 1st, second or final 4 in bracket play. That’s pretty special.”
How is The Philly Face/Off different from other Tournaments?
“For us, the thing that separates The Face/Off from other events is the fact that there are absolutely No games off! You have to come ready to compete, because there is no ducking at the Philly Face/Off. It’s loaded with good teams and unfamiliar opponents.
We are excited about returning to the Event in 2017 !! Actually can’t wait!”
